HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS

The best time to prepare for a hurricane is before it enters the Gulf of Mexico. Ferncrest is actively preparing for the season. We will be having daily meetings once a hurricane enters the Gulf of Mexico. The best preparation we at Ferncrest can do is to inform you and your loved ones of our plans.

If a hurricane threatens Eastern New Orleans and the Mayor and/or Department of Health & Hospitals implement a "MANDATORY" evacuation we will leave the immediate area by bus to Robert, where we will stay until the evacuation orders are lifted.

To keep you informed we will post information on our website:

http://www.ferncrest.com/stormupdate.htm

Which will include important phone numbers to key staff and directions and phone number to the facility we are going to. We will also enter changes/information in the monthly news letters so please read it carefully.

We ask for your assistance to provide one of our Social Worker (Rhonda Lewis, Yvette Taylor or Jake Roger at 504-246-1426) with a current cell phone number to update our list. If you don’t have a cell phone number then we request a family contact out of the New Orleans area to call in case you need to be contacted.

If you want to pick up your family member incase of a evacuation, we also need you to discuss this plan with the Social Worker (Rhonda Lewis, Yvette Taylor or Jake Roger at 504-246-1426).

Thank you in advance for your cooperation, and we hope this hurricane season is as calm as last year, but if not we want you to know your loved ones safety is our utmost priority.
